George Larkin

Contracts Director

For more than 20 years, George Larkin has delivered many complicated multi million euro mechanical projects within the Irish domestic construction market. This includes successfully managing LEED, BCAR and the Construction processes on award winning projects within the Commercial, Industrial, Life Sciences, Mission Critical and Hospitality sectors.

A qualified building services engineer with extensive contracting experience, George brings a detailed knowledge of IOSH accredited Safety Systems, ISO Awarded management systems, HVAC plant Procurement and Senior Project Management processes. He is a member of the IEI (Engineers Ireland) and has formal qualifications in construction safety from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health

Paul Mulcahy

Contracts Manager

Working within the Irish construction industry for close to 30 years, Paul brings a wealth of experience. During this time, Paul has delivered large scale commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare and life science projects

Paul has a proven track record in the management and delivery of his projects to the highest safety and quality standards whilst also providing value and service to our clients. A problem solver, Paul works closely with clients and design teams to discuss project challenges and agree mutually beneficial outcomes

A qualified craftsperson, Paul is a team player with a keen eye for detail, and is focused on the end goal of delivering an excellent product to our clients on time and on budget.

Cathal Dowd

Contracts Manager

Cathal joined the Cobec Engineering team in 2021, bringing more than 20 years experience in program and project management on large scale commercial, government and building services projects

Cathal has a proven track record of crafting and executing strategies to improve the efficiency and productivity of the projects he delivers, offering additional client value. He is a highly motivated team player with excellent customer service orientation and strong problem-solving skills

Cathal is a qualified craftsperson with additional qualifications in people management and systems training. He is results driven with a focus on delivering consistently high level of service to existing and future clients

David McMahon

Contracts Manager

A fully qualified craftsman, with almost 20 years proven industry experience in the delivery of demanding mission critical, live environment and building services projects, David brings a wealth of knowledge and strong technical capabilities to the team. In addition to his trade qualifications, David has also been awarded a Diploma in Project Management

David takes a proactive and pragmatic approach to the projects he manages, working collaboratively with design teams and clients to solve problems and deliver solutions. He embraces the use of new technologies, offsite fabrication and LEAN construction methods

Danielle O'Reilly

Human Resource Manager

Danielle is an experienced HR professional who has worked within the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Industry for more than 8 years. Danielle holds a BA in Business Management in addition to completing numerous accredited courses in Industrial Relations, Performance Management, People Management, Time Management and Conflict Resolution

Danielle works in conjunction with the management team to ensure that Cobec Engineering are legislatively compliant and progressive in the management and development of our people and our human resource practices company wide

Luke Marini

Contracts Manager

Luke brings 13 years’ experience within M&E consulting & mechanical contracting both in Ireland and internationally. In this time, he has worked across several sectors including Education, Healthcare, Government, Lifestyle, Residential, Retail, Workspaces, Mission Critical and Life Sciences

In recent years, Luke’s principal role has been a Contract Management capacity on complex projects involving NZEB/LEED and BCAR certification

Luke holds a Degree in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Services & Energy Management and a Master’s Degree in Energy & Sustainable Building Design. In addition, Luke is a member of CIBSE and is currently in the process of obtaining CEng chartership

Ronan Flynn

Contracts Manager

Ronan Flynn joined the Cobec Engineering team in 2016. Working almost 20 years within the industry, Ronan brings a wealth of experience and has been a key contributor to the successful delivery of a variety of demanding building services projects.

Ronan is recognised for his attention to detail, project planning, LEAN approach, relationship management and for his focus on driving projects to ensure that key milestones are achieved.

A qualified craftsman, Ronan works closely with the management team and contributes greatly to the high-quality service that we deliver our clients.

Our Projects

Financial Director
Des O’Brien co-founded Cobec Engineering in 2004, having successfully worked in senior management positions for some of the UK and Ireland’s largest engineering contractors.
Cobec Engineering maintain strong controls and risk management procedures which Des has been key in implementing, in addition he deals with the control services relating to procurement and accounts department.
We value our relationships with our supply chain partners. Des has been instrumental in building and maintain these relationships since our companies inception.

Colm Brennan

Commercial Director
Colm Brennan commenced his career with Cobec Engineering in 2004 as an apprentice and was quickly identified as an ideal candidate for our management training programme. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Colm gained experience in project management and subsequently our commercial department.
In 2012, Colm was appointed Estimating Manager and in 2015 was subsequently promoted to Commercial Manager. In 2018, upon qualifying as a Quantity Surveyor Colm was appointed to Commercial Director.
Colm is a key contributor to the growth of our commercial departments systems and procedures and like his own career path encourages people within the organisation to grow and continuously improve.

George Maughan

Operations Director
George Maughan has over 25 years experience in successfully delivering within the domestic construction market for both Irish and international clients in large scale, mission critical, healthcare and building services projects. A crafts person by trade he has formal qualifications in facilities management and health & Safety management.

George leads our teams from the front and chairs regular meetings with our project and department heads to ensure that we providing the right resource, at the right time, to deliver in line with our commitments.

Peter Mulligan

Business Development Director

Peter Mulligan is a graduate of the marketing institute of Ireland and has worked in the Irish construction industry for almost 20 years for an innovating worldwide electrical manufacturer providing engineering solutions in the mission critical, healthcare and building services environment.

Peter works closely with the other company directors to ensure that our marketing and communication strategies are clear and in line with our long term business development plan, whilst actively encouraging feedback from our valued clients to ensure our service best suits their changing needs.

Michelle Cooper

Human Resource Manager
Michelle Cooper joined Cobec Engineering in 2004. With over 20 years experience working within Human Resources, Michelle plans, directs and co-ordinates the administration functions of the organisation.

Michelle successfully oversees the search process, interviewing and recruitment of new staff, whilst consulting with the senior management team on strategic planning. Michelle is a trusted link between the organisation’s management and its employees.

Lisa O’Brien

Accounts Manager

Lisa O’Brien has successfully worked in both the Irish and UK markets and with Cobec Engineering since 2004. With over 20 years experience, Lisa manages the daily operations of our accounts department. Key to Lisa’s role is the monitoring and analysing of accounting data and the production of financial reports.

Since the companies inception, Lisa has been key to the development of our strong financial policies and principles.

Kevin Donnelly

Contracts Manager
Kevin Donnelly joined Cobec Engineering in 2007 having successfully worked in both the Irish and UK construction markets.

With over 25 years proven experience in the delivery of demanding, mission critical, healthcare and building services projects, he brings a wealth of experience with a calm positive attitude whilst being a key contributor to the successful delivery of our projects.

Kevin is a qualified craftsman and keen proponent of our LEAN continuous development process which has contributed greatly to the high-quality service that we provided to all our clients.

Padraig Quinn

QA/QC Manager
Padraig has over 20 years experience delivering QA/QC services within the Irish construction industry on some of the most prestigious healthcare, commercial, industrial, residential and public sector projects.

During the construction phase of a project, our client and their representatives are in continuous need of objective evidence that the works are performed to the highest standard. Padraig manages a highly experienced team that understands the project requirements and ensures that we build, verify, test, commission and record, all of our installation works.

Padraig has been a key contributor to the expansion and continuous development of our QA/QC department which provides both quality assurance and reliability to our project teams, construction partners and clients.

Jason Smart

Estimating Manager

Jason joined Cobec Engineering in 2005 and manages both our mechanical & electrical estimating team.

Jason brings a wide variety of experience across several sectors of the construction industry including; commercial, fit out, healthcare, industry and residential.

Jason embraces and encourages the use of new technologies that assist in ensuring our project estimates are to a consistently high standard.

Darren O’ Brien

Contracts Manager

Darren O’Brien joined Cobec Engineering in 2008 and was quickly identified as an ideal candidate for our management training programme. With over 15 years proven experience in the delivery of demanding mission critical, healthcare and building services projects, he brings a wealth of experience with a helpful, positive attitude which has been a key contributor to the successful delivery of our projects.

Darren is a qualified craftsman and keen proponent of our LEAN continuous development process. He has a hands-on partnership approach, working with all our construction partners, which has been key to the growth in our mission critical and healthcare division.

John O’ Reilly

Engineering Manager

John O’Reilly joined Cobec Engineering in 2014 and leads our engineering department. With over 15 years’ experience working in the Irish construction industry, John is highly experienced in managing our pre-engineering and technical submittal processes in advance of the execution of the engineered solution.

John has eye for detail and is keen proponent of our LEAN continuous development process which has brought great efficiency to the processes we utilise to deliver our service.

Andrew Weston

Commercial Manager
Andrew has 30 years’ experience within the Irish and UK construction industry, working in senior positions for some of the leading M&E contracting specialists.

Andrew efficiently manages our surveying team in line with our systems and procedures and reports directly to our Commercial Director.

Gary Byrne

Contracts Manager
Gary has worked within the Irish and European construction markets for the past 13 years. Bringing a wealth of experience and strong technical capabilities, he has successfully delivered a variety of demanding mission critical and building services projects.

A qualified craftsman, Gary works collaboratively with design teams and clients to solve problems and deliver solutions. He embraces the use of new technologies and is an advocate for our LEAN construction strategy.

Leonard Cooper

Managing Director
Leonard Cooper co-founded Cobec Engineering in 2004, following a very successful career with a leading Irish global engineering contractor. Cobec Engineering has a high-quality reputation within the Irish construction industry and this is in no small part down to Leonard’s vision and core values in respect to how our business continuously deliveries the best in class service to both our Irish and International clients.
Leonard is a major proponent of embracing new technologies, self-development and encourages our staff to develop through training and further their careers within the company. He has a hands-on leadership approach and ensures our directors are leading our project teams.
